The centerpiece of the MTM is the year-long capstone project experience. Students join real-world teams taking medical innovations from idea to the clinic. Projects range from new surgical devices to drug delivery techniques and patient workflow management systems. As an MTM student, you will be an important part of these advances.
Capstone teams demand diverse skills; some focus on getting a first prototype developed or providing a user interface suitable for use in a clinical setting, others chart a course for regulatory approval while developing a business case for funding.
Capstone teams emerge from research projects ongoing in the labs of faculty at UCSF and UC Berkeley, as well as from outside companies in the Bay Area. A broad suite of partners have worked with students while making real advances in their own innovation.
If you are a mentor, and working with MTM students sounds like a good fit for your work, please see our project submission guide.
