Overview
Otitis Media with Effusion (OME) or ‘glue-ear’ is an extremely common disease in children.
The Issue
OME causes discomfort, hearing difficulties, and developmental delays. Currently, the American medical system spends $1.9B on OME management per year.
Approach
EarBuddy is an affordable, novel, non-invasive device that can be used to deliver a positive pressure therapy to the middle ear to drain the effusion and resolve OME.
MTM Student Engagement
Our team completed stakeholder interviews with pediatricians and ENT specialists, identified our total addressable market size, developed a reimbursement strategy based on our health economics analysis, and designed clinical trials. We’re also in the process of finalizing our 510(k) technical dossier for submission, and setting up our quality management system and manufacturing.
