The Master of Translational Medicine program at UC Berkeley and UCSF seeks samples for our medical device learning library. This resource allows our students to get hands-on inspiration from existing medical products as they learn the design process. Since these will never be used in patient settings, they can be expired by date, open packages, non-sterile, or even non-functional.
Examples of products that students find useful include the mundane (IV fittings, catheters), to the more complex (stents, surgical instruments, implants).
For many engineers, holding a device in their hand makes a profound impact on their understanding of the clinician and patient care experiences.
Please contact Moose O’Donnell, Executive Director of the MTM program (mooseo@berkeley.edu) to discuss donations and to arrange pickup.
